Acute GP Services
From sore throats and blocked ears to that annoying skin rash, our doctors and nurse can assess, diagnose and treat according to the most up to date medical information.
Weight Management Clinic
At Grantstown Medical we understand that weight management is personal and often challenging. Our clinic is here to support you in a safe, non-judgemental environment with a plan to your medical needs and lifestyle. Â
Menopause Clinic
Menopause can be a time of great upheaval with life changing symptoms and an increased risk for many other illnesses. We offer a specialised assessment with both a doctor and nurse to identify those symptoms that need help whilst assessing and modifying the risk of developing other conditions like heart disease, osteoporosis and cancers.
Skin Clinic
Dr. Caroline Feeney runs an acne clinic at Grantstown Medical and prescribes Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) to patients that meet the criteria for it. Isotretinoin is used to treat severe and scarring acne that has proven resistant to previous treatments.Â
This is considered a controlled medication and requires strict monitoring including regular blood testing, side effect management and mental health evaluation.
Chronic Disease Clinics
Specialised care for long term illnesses like asthma, diabetes and heart problems to ensure your treatment is appropriate and adequate allowing you to live your best life.
Blood Tests & Investigations
Investigations such as blood tests, ECGs, 24 hour blood pressure monitors and spirometry are led by our nursing team. Blood tests must be ordered by a GP or consultant.Â
Women’s Health
We offer cervical screening (smear tests), STD screening and a full complement of contraceptive options to our patients. Our doctors have a special interest in fertility and have an established pathway of referral to Assisted Fertility (IVF) clinics. We provide shared Antenatal (Pregnancy) Care with private, public and Domino schemes at University Hospital Waterford.
Children’s Health
From your baby’s check ups in the weeks after birth to the full schedule of Childhood Vaccinations, we are here to take care of our paediatric patients. We have a play area both in the waiting and doctors rooms to help make their visit a little less scary! We accept the Doctor Visit Card for U6s.
Men’s Health
Our male patients can be screened and treated for common illnesses like heart disease, prostate issues and erectile dysfunction (impotence). We can also arrange Semen Analysis (Sperm count) for fertility concerns.
Sexual health & Contraception
Our Doctors and Nurse provide confidential, discrete sexual health advice, screening and treatment in a secure and or safe environment. Ensuring our patients needs and concerns are addressed appropriately and in a non-judgmental manner. Contraception – Advice on all methods of contraception including the combined pill, progesterone only pill, the morning after pill, the Depo-provera, the contraceptive patch and vaginal ring. Insertion and removal of the intrauterine contraceptive devices and the Implanon. Women and people with a uterus aged 17 to 35 years inclusive can get contraception for free, a medical card is not required for these services.
Mental Health
A large part of our work at the surgery is supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties. Our doctors are both trained in Psychiatry and we have links with highly skilled counsellors and psychotherapists in the area should you require further help.
Sports & MSK Medicine
Our doctors have vast experience in assessing diagnosing and managing sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions (problems with bones/joints/muscles). We provide Pre Participation medicals for athletes from the elite to the weekend warrior, joint injections and cardiac screening.
Immunsiations / Vaccinations & Travel Vaccines
Our Practice Nurse runs a comprehensive clinic which includes an assessment of your travel itinerary, up to date advice on the recommended vaccines along with a personal Travel Pack with health advice for your planned trip.
Haemochromatosis Clinic
Hereditary Haemochromatosis is a common illness in Ireland. Our surgery can perform screening to diagnose the condition along with Venesection, the treatment of choice for the condition. This avoids the need to visit hospital for your treatment.
